The aim of this study is to conduct a comparative analysis of the concept of Mary’s (PBUH) infallibility in the Qur’an and the Bible, and to examine its theological, doctrinal, and ethical differences and implications in Islam and Christianity. The research method is a descriptive–comparative analysis of sacred texts and authoritative Islamic and Christian commentaries, using primary sources and comparative studies. The findings indicate that in the Qur’an, Mary’s (PBUH) infallibility is a moral and human attribute rooted in divine choice and support, which makes her a model of faith, chastity, and piety. This infallibility is connected to the educational and theological teachings of Islam and highlights Mary’s (PBUH) role in shaping the moral and spiritual identity of believers. In Christian teachings, however, her infallibility is viewed as an innate, grace-based attribute that preserves her from sin from birth to the end of life. This quality secures her position in soteriology, presenting her as a mediator of divine grace and a model of faith.
The comparative analysis shows that in Islam, infallibility has educational–human dimensions, whereas in Christianity, it has soteriological and theological dimensions. Nevertheless, both traditions emphasize purity, faith, and the special role of holy women. The results of the study highlight the theological differences concerning Mary’s (PBUH) infallibility while also creating opportunities for interfaith dialogue and mutual understanding of the status of sacred women. This subject provides a foundation for future research in comparative theology and the analysis of women’s roles in salvation history.
